The Dedication Series

   

The King of Instruments:  A Children's Concert - September 22, 2012 - 10:00 a.m.

A Saturday morning concert for children presented by Dr. Jerry Westenkuehler. Children will learn about the colors of the organ and hear some of the television and movie favorites played on the Arborlawn organ. concert time is 10:00 a.m.   There is no admission charge. Tickets are not required.

A Festival of Dedication - September 30 - October 1, 2012

This two-day Festival of Dedication begins with liturgical dedication of the 107-rank Dan Garland Organ in two worship services at 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  The service will feature the Arborlawn Chancel Choir, Organist Jerry Westenkuehler, and Senior Minister Ben Disney preaching.

A Night of Celebration - September 30, 2012 - 7:00 p.m.

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Jerry Westenkuehler, Organist

Arborlawn Organist Dr. Jerry Westenkuehler joins with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in the Guilmant Symphonie for Organ No. 1, Opus 42 and Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ in G minor.  This concert will be open to the public without admission fee. The concert starts at 7:00 p.m.

The Dedication Recital - October 1, 2012 - 7:00 p.m.

Todd Wilson, Organist

Todd Wilson is head of the Organ Department at The Cleveland Institute of Music and Curator of the E.M. Skinner pipe organ at Severance Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also Director of Music and Worship at Cleveland’s Trinity Cathedral and House Organist for the newly-restored Aeolian organ at the Stan Hywet Home and Gardens, Akron, Ohio. Critics have indicated that he is “a fabulous virtuoso with fleet feet, a prodigious memory and technique to burn.”  This concert will be open to the public without admission charge. An Evening of Organ Improvisation - January 20, 2013 - 7:00 p.m.

Albert L. Travis, Organist

Dr. Albert L. Travis plays a concert featuring his sacred organ improvisations for which he is internationally known. Currently serving as Organist and Director of Music Ministries at Broadway Baptist Church, Dr. Travis plays the Rildia Bee O’Bryan Cliburn Organ. A member of ASCAP, he has organ and choral publications with MorningStar Music Publishers, Hope Publishing Company, Augsburg Press, and Alfred. There is no admission charge.
